How long is the waiting period for ambulance cover?
One day. A waiting period of one day applies from when you take out cover with Latrobe Health Services, which makes it one of the quickest parts of your cover to switch on (worth sorting before you need it).
What counts as an emergency ambulance trip?
Emergency ambulance cover applies to ambulance transport in a medical emergency. It does not apply to a trip booked in advance or arranged for convenience. If you’re not sure whether a trip would be covered, call Latrobe Health Services on 1300 362 144 and ask before you need one.
Does Latrobe Health cover non-emergency ambulance transport?
No. Non-emergency ambulance transport isn’t covered under Latrobe Health Services hospital, extras or combined policies. To cover non-emergency trips, you’ll need a subscription with your state or territory ambulance service. Some Latrobe Health extras covers pay a rebate towards that subscription.
What if my state or territory already covers ambulance transport?
That scheme covers you first. Where an applicable state or territory ambulance scheme covers your transport, it applies instead of your Latrobe Health Services emergency ambulance cover. The same goes for a third-party scheme. You’re still covered for the trip. The cost is simply met by that scheme rather than by your policy.
What if my cover doesn’t include emergency ambulance cover?
You’ll need to arrange ambulance cover another way. In Victoria, that means holding a membership with Ambulance Victoria. If you’d rather have ambulance cover built into your health cover, our cover selector will show you which Latrobe Health Services covers include it. Already a member? Give us a call on 1300 362 144 and we’ll review your current cover and help you move to a similar option that includes ambulance cover.
