Accident Advantage

Accident Advantage is our award-winning product feature that gives eligible members top-level hospital cover for up to 90 days after an accident.

Accident Advantage covers accident-related treatment your policy would normally restrict or exclude, plus you won’t pay a hospital excess on that admission.

To access Accident Advantage you must seek treatment at an emergency department or from a doctor within 72 hours of the accident, be admitted for treatment within 90 days, and send us a completed Accident Advantage Form within 21 days.

What does Accident Advantage cover?

Accident Advantage covers hospital treatment related to an accident for up to 90 days from the date of injury. That includes services your own policy would normally restrict or exclude. Latrobe Health also waives your hospital excess on that admission.

What do I need to do to be covered?

To access Accident Advantage, you’ll need a hospital cover that includes this benefit. If you’re on Healthy Start, Basic Hospital or a Gold Hospital product, get in touch on 1300 362 144 and we’ll help you review your cover.

You’ll also need to:

• see a doctor or go to an emergency department within 72 hours of the accident
• Be admitted to hospital for related treatment within 90 days of the injury.
• Submit a completed Accident Advantage form signed by you and your treating health practitioner, within 21 days of the accident.

What counts as an accident?

An accident means an unplanned, unintentional, and unexpected event, occurring by chance and caused by external force or object resulting in a physical injury requiring immediate treatment. This does not include any illness, an injury or condition resulting from any complications of treatment or surgery, any injury or condition resulting from the effects of alcohol or drugs of addiction, pregnancy, or the aggravation of an existing physical injury or condition.

How do I claim on Accident Advantage?

1. See a doctor or go to an emergency department within 72 hours of the accident.
2. Tell the hospital staff you have Latrobe Health cover with Accident Advantage.
3. Ask your treating provider to complete the Accident Advantage form.
4. Send the completed form to Latrobe Health within 21 days of the accident.

Do I pay a hospital excess?

No. Latrobe Health Services waives your hospital excess on an admission covered by Accident Advantage. Send us the Accident Advantage form within 21 days of the accident and we’ll take the excess off. That’s one less thing to sort out while you’re recovering.

How do I know if I have Accident Advantage?

To check whether your hospital policy includes Accident Advantage, log in to your online account or open the Latrobe Health app and read your Product Summary. Or call us on 1300 362 144 and we’ll look it up while we’re on the phone.
