With health insurance premiums set to change in April 2025, now is the perfect time to take advantage of “rate protection”.
Rate protection allows you to lock in your current private health insurance premium by paying up to 12 months in advance. By making this advanced payment, you’ll secure your existing rate, saving you money.
How do I protect my current premium price?
To lock in your current premium rate, you can make a one-off payment of any amount up until 30 March 2026. Latrobe Health must receive your payment before 30 March 2025. If rates increase during your pre-paid period, you won’t pay the higher amount until your advance payment runs out*.
Paying your premium in advance has other perks too! If you make a payment for a full 6 months in advance, you will receive an additional 1% discount. By paying a full 12 months in advance you'll receive an additional 2% discount! Latrobe Health's payment frequency discounts are a great way for our members to save money.
When do I need to make this rate protection payment?
To pay your existing rate, you must make a payment by 30 March 2025. If you would like to organise your rate protection payment, by phone or in-person, please ensure you do so by phone before 4:30pm or in-person at one of our branches by 1pm on Friday, 28 March 2025. How do I make a one-off rate protection payment?
The easiest way to pay is through the Latrobe Health Mobile App. If you haven't downloaded it yet, do so today and register your membership online to take charge of your private health insurance cover. You can control the way you pay by; making easy one-off payments, set up direct debit, or manage your payment preferences. You can also check your cover, view your benefits and much more!
You have the option to make a one-off payment or establish automated payments at a frequency that works best for you. This could be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.

- Latrobe Health Online Account – Log in to make a payment or adjust your preferences.
- Phone – Call 1300 362 144 (Monday–Friday, 9am–4:30pm AEST/AEDT).
- In-Person – Visit a Latrobe Health branch in Moe, Traralgon, Morwell, or Warragul. Find branch details here.
Please note we do not accept cheques.
